Cookies and Vacation!

Hello, everyone! Jessica here, owner of Storybook Bakery, with a quick update about our online store and upcoming vacation time!

First up, we've gotten a lot of requests for some of the same cookies and a few cake designs have become popular for us recently, so I've been adding them to the online store for easy ordering. For example, our baby onesie cookies, rainbow smash cake, and rosette & ruffle smash cakes have all been added to the store, along with a selection of cookies that match most of our cake themes. Items in the online store are for pick-up, only (no shipping). However, you can also now add Local Delivery to your cart for delivery of your order to Chesapeake/Portsmouth/Norfolk/Virginia Beach!

I try to add as many items to the store as I can, because it cuts down on the messages I need to respond to each week (and I get dozens!). If you can just order it right from the website, without having to message me and go back and forth with order forms and invoices, it's much easier on you and us also. I've gotten messages from clients who tell me they appreciate how easy the ordering process is. So expect to see even more cake designs being added to the store in the upcoming months, including a SUPERHERO themed cake that our fans voted for on Facebook. It will have a skyline and comic book bursts, just ready for you to add your favorite superhero figurines to the top. It will be available in a few color options, perfect for girls and boys of all ages. That's coming within a week. I just got the skyline stencil in today!

On now to our vacation time. We are not available to orders the week of Thanksgiving as we will be going out of state. Also, this will be our second annual January vacation time, meaning we won't be taking ANY orders for the entire month of January. That does include our online store. We won't be accepting any orders through the online store for pick-up in January. Store will remain open for people to order for February and thereafter. This vacation time gives us a chance to recuperate from the always crazy busy summer months and back-to-back holiday seasons.

It also gives me a chance to prep for bridal shows (if any). I won't be participating in any bridal shows next year, however, due to my husband's upcoming deployment. BUT we will be hosting TWO Wedding Weekends on January 18-19 & 25-26! Remember that there is no tasting fee for Wedding Weekends, but the spaces do fill up quickly. If you are engaged or know anyone who gets engaged during the holiday/engagement season, just check back with us in December or early January to get onto the Wedding Weekend schedule. Keep in mind that Wedding Weekends and consultations in general are for weddings with 100+ servings. Smaller wedding cakes are handled via email.

I hope everyone has a safe Halloween and enjoys this crisp fall weather. Have a sweet day!

P.S. Here is a throwback photo of a fall-themed cake we did in our first year of business, back in 2011. Wow, how time flies!

I will recommend your cakes to the other mothers I have on my Facebook. We are always looking for delicious treats for our Sailors and families.
